As of June 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, short-term investments consisted of $20.2 million and $53.3 million, respectively, in cash and fixed income securities with maturities less than twelve months. The short-term investments as of June 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025 consisted of $10.1 million and $9.9 million, respectively, posted as cash collateral for the self-insured black lung related claims asserted by or on behalf of former employees of Walter Energy, Inc.
